Frequently Asked Questions
Does this phone require batteries?
No. The FIRST M is landline-powered and draws its power directly from the telephone line. This ensures the phone remains operational even during a power outage, provided the phone line is active.
Can I re-program the M1 button?
Yes. While the M1 button comes pre-programmed to dial 911 for immediate use, it can be reprogrammed to dial any number you choose, such as an internal security desk or private emergency line.
What is the H.E.L.P. feature?
H.E.L.P. stands for Hands-free Emergency Listening Phone. If the handset is dropped or left off the hook, the phone automatically switches to hands-free mode with increased microphone sensitivity, allowing responders to hear the room even if the caller cannot speak.
Is it difficult to install?
No. The phone plugs into a standard analog phone jack (RJ11) and can be placed on a desk or mounted to a wall. Programming the buttons is done directly on the keypad.
Important: Requires an active landline/analog line (or compatible analog port). Emergency call routing depends on your service provider and site configuration.
